Yamaha Nepal has launched the Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid in Nepal at a price of NPR 4,89,900, making it around NPR 55,000 more expensive than the standard non-hybrid version.

This marks Yamaha’s first attempt at bringing hybrid technology to its motorcycle lineup. The Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid continues with the familiar 149cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, now updated to meet OBD-2B norms for 2025. It produces 12.4 PS and 13.3 Nm, paired with a 5-speed gearbox, figures that remain unchanged from the standard model.

What sets this version apart is the addition of an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). The system provides a subtle torque assist under acceleration, enables near-silent starts, and incorporates an automatic stop/start function that shuts the engine off at idle to improve efficiency. While the performance gains are modest, the focus here is clearly on refinement and fuel savings rather than outright power.

Yamaha has also made small but meaningful ergonomic revisions. The handlebar position has been adjusted for improved comfort during longer rides, and the updated switchgear is designed to be more intuitive in daily use. A redesigned fuel tank cap further adds to the overall usability.

The most noticeable upgrade, however, is the new 4.2-inch full-colour TFT display. Paired with the Y-Connect app, it brings features such as turn-by-turn navigation, call and SMS alerts, and music control. It also offers ride data like fuel efficiency, maintenance tracking, and a rev dashboard, giving the FZ-S a more modern, connected feel.

Underneath, the bike remains largely unchanged. Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear, while braking is taken care of by a 282mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc. The bike continues to offer single-channel ABS, traction control, and a side-stand engine cutoff, along with an all-LED lighting setup.

Other specifications remain the same as the standard version, including a 13-litre fuel tank, 165 mm ground clearance, and a 790 mm seat height. The kerb weight has increased slightly by 1 kg, bringing it to 138 kg.
